Those markets were chosen, as they have already been certified by SNI 8125: 2015 and have readiness in terms of building and management.

To get certification and halal, both of these markets had gone through several stages. It began with a survey of the location of halal and non-halal meat disposal through a management team accompanied by a consultant who had worked with Pasar Jaya.

The team then identified a number of data including data on the identity of the traders, meat suppliers and statement letters to participate in a series of certification and halal quality assurance. Further, they conducted an internal audit and reviewed the management and manual review of the halal quality assurance certification book.

"They also do an external audit through Jakarta LPPOM MUI. After the stage is done, we give the certification to them (markets)," he told.

Therefore, his side is committed to making all traditional markets certified halal quality assurance by marketing halal meat consistently to consumers.

They will also intensively socialize quality assurance to all stakeholders through training, internal memos, banners, posters and so forth.

"Our hope is all markets have halal certification, support the government in making Jakarta as the best halal tourist destination in the world and increase public trust to shop at traditional markets," he uttered.
